Voting Matters - Now More than Ever

Our world has changed due to the COVID-19 virus.  We are doing everything we can to assure voters and our election workers that they will be able to vote safely.

There are three methods to cast a ballot in the State of Texas:

First, a voter may vote early by mail if they:

  1. Will be away from their county on Election Day and during early voting;
  2. Are disabled;
  3. Are 65 years of age or older on Election Day; or
  4. Are confined in jail, but eligible to vote.

Second, a voter may vote at the Early Voting Polling location anytime the location is open during the early voting period.  Required identification and voter registration rules apply.

Third, a voter may vote in person at any countywide polling location on Election Day.  Required identification and voter registration rules apply.

To help minimize the risk of exposure for the election workers and voters of Marion County, the Marion County Clerk’s Office provides the following Best Practices Action Plan.

Best Practices Action Plan for Elections

  1. Protective screens will be provided at each check-in station.
  2. Each election worker will be provided with protective gloves, masks and face shields.
  3. Hand sanitizer will be provided for both the voter & election staff at every location open for voting.
  4. Gloves and/or disposable stylus will be provided to the voter.
  5. Tables, doorknobs, doors and all high contact surfaces will be sanitized regularly.
  6. No public restrooms will be available at our voting locations.
  7. Disinfectant supplies will be provided and machines/polling booths will be cleaned after each use.
  8. There will be a limited amount of people allowed in each voting location at one time (this will include staff & voters).
  9. All election staff and voters will be required to maintain social distancing between each person(s) during polling hours.

*It is understood that the voting process could be modified based on decisions of the Governor’s office.
